Centacare Evolve Housing recently had an open day at the Bowden Drive complex, and people who came said that the new homes were “fantastic”. Four of the 15 houses in the complex were open to show the variety of different layouts and features so people could walk through and see the range of dwellings Centacare Evolve Housing has built here.

About 40 people visited the properties and shared a free lunch of pizza together with our Tenancy Service Manager Anita, Community Development Officer Sheryl and Project Coordinator Bella. Our visitors told us the homes were “lovely and open”, “have great views” and are “really well laid out”. They also commented on the perfect low-maintenance back yards, and one visitor told us they would “take one in a heartbeat”.

The homes at this new complex also have modern open-plan living, under-cover parking, separate cook tops, built-in ovens and wardrobes, secure private back yards and most have lock-up car ports. Three of the homes also suit wheelchair access, with larger doorways, bigger bathrooms with removable shower screens and step-free external door entry.

With great views over kunyani/Mt Wellington and the Derwent River, these are lovely new properties and fine examples of our focus on providing quality homes for our tenants.

Beautiful views from an upstairs bedroom

All of the houses Centacare Evolve Housing is building have a seven-star energy rating with double glazed windows and sliding doors, and upgraded insulation in the walls and ceilings. It means they cost less to heat in winter and to cool in summer.

Our housing allocator, along with our tenancy staff at Centacare Evolve Housing, will now be busy trying to get all the houses tenanted before Christmas.

At the Open Day, representatives from 4one4 Real Estate were there to answer questions about how to buy one of the five houses that will be for sale. Representatives from Tassie Home Loans also came along with information about Homeshare and the Streets Ahead Program run by the Department of Health and Human Services to help renters buy their first home.

Thanks go to all our contractors, SJM building and their sub-contractors, yourtown and the Bridgewater Community Centre.
